Paint & Sip at Moose Lodge #178 Gold Hill, Oregon

Disclaimer: I (Cayla Pair) participated in this event as a 178 Moose Member.

The Moose Lodge located in Gold Hill is part of an international non-profit organization. The number 178 represents the opening of the 178th Moose Lodge; the total number of lodges currently open is now over 1,300 across the United States, Canada, Great Britain, and Bermuda. These buildings represent an international charity organization that donates all profits to Moose Charities. The most popular being Moosehaven, for the elderly, and Mooseheart for children in need.

Moose Lodge 178 hosted a last-Thursday-of-every-month event called Paint & Sip, hosted by volunteers Jerry Hurley and Carolyn Tucker. Dana Lloyd and Cameron Wegner were in the kitchen making their Thursday burgers on National Burger Day. While Dalen Warsteane hosted the front-of-house at The Moose, Paint & Sip brought 9 painters into the meeting room for a step-by-step paint class from 6-9 pm. Carolyn describes her painting environment as “peaceful and joyous.” Both Carolyn and Jerry are retired and volunteer a few hours a month to teach others how to paint. This event helps drive traffic to the Lodge. Admission, including supplies, was $20, all proceeds being donated.

Moose Lodges are known for the community of people they bring together. They host several non-profit events throughout the week and have dinner and snacks available for purchase every day. While Paint & Sip isn’t for everyone, live music, bingo nights, karaoke, holiday events, and much more can be found throughout the year at this Lodge. To see 178’s monthly calendar, click here.
