AI (artificial intelligence) is swimming with possibilities that humans are exploring in many ways to help solidify ideas, create solutions, and even to create content. When it first came out, AI had a faster adoption rate than personal computers and the internet alone.
In Ashland, Oregon, entrepreneurs took advantage of AI’s massive growth and created businesses, programs, and a place to talk about the future of AI in the Rogue Valley. One of these people is Aaron Moffatt, a Fractional CTO with many companies. Current organizations include White Rabbit, remade.dev, Immersion Analytics, and Autom Insights. As a violinist and technologist, Moffatt has a wide variety of expertise.
After four years of producing and publishing the documentary Klamath, Moffatt was inspired to learn more about his surroundings and how he could make a positive change in Southern Oregon’s unique bioregion. “When partnered with AI, new things can be created that neither human nor machine could have accomplished on its own.”
Moffatt is an advocate for Regenerative AI, educating technology for local bioregions. The Rogue Valley has a group that meets up at White Rabbit in Ashland to discuss the future of AI and the environment. Check their schedule here.
Concerns remain that AI will harm the environment even more than humans already have. Moffatt agrees but argues that “with advanced solutions generated with the help of AI, we could greatly reduce both human and AI’s impact on our planet together.” Below is an example of what ChatGPT put together as a solution to the amount of water and energy used to sustain AI programs.
There are many concerns about AI, but Moffatt and his team have decided to use this technology and push it farther than many thought possible to create solutions for economic, cultural, and environmental preservation.
